Newsletter June 2024

This month we are looking forward to trips to parks, beaches and museums. We’ve enjoyed trips to Garden Centres, tea dances and local community hubs too. The barge trips are very popular. Thanks must go to the Seagull Trust for welcoming us all aboard.

The village nursery have visited for Sports Day in anticipation of the Summer Olympics in Paris. We have a football tournament set up to celebrate the Euros and we are planning our special event for Wimbledon. All coincide with Ascot, so look out for hats and fascinators. Our art sessions, chair exercises and gardening club are enjoyed by us all. Outdoors we enjoy the Cycling without Age tri-shaw, walking groups and sun worshiping- hats and factor 50 of course.

June is a special month in the village and the residents enjoy watching the Children’s Gala Parade from our garden balcony. There will be entertainment and fish and chips that day. An annual firm favourite.

Going forward, the residents are excitedly looking forward to utilising the new greenhouse. Currently under construction and resident led in design. Tomatoes and strawberries will be ready for our chef later in the season.
The Girl Guide group will be visiting again for arts and crafts and singing. There is always singing at Crofthead.
Our choir is fabulous.

The residents also wrote a short story in May so we plan to write more of these too.

Spring is firmly here and now let’s celebrate and enjoy Summer 2024.
Happy June.
