Newsletter July 2024

Welcome to July and the Summer of 2024. So far this summer the residents have enjoyed the Euros, a Wimbledon Day with tennis accompanied by strawberries and cream and gardening. The new greenhouse is currently being set up in the garden. Staff and residents took part in an Olympic competition in conjunction with Erskine. The initiative travels around other care homes, so we await to see if we have a winning trophy. Our residents have been creating a Crofthead banner for the opening ceremony of the Olympics.

Outings have included Strathclyde Park and Amazonia, the Gillespie Centre in Biggar and our planned outing to Portobello will run in the next few weeks when the weather allows. Beach days are are firm favourite with our residents and families.

Keeping everyone connected is our priority, so we all enjoyed a Saturday afternoon tea with friends and family. We welcomed family members on our trips and had a volunteer from Standard Life who offered their assistance on their volunteer week. We continue to facilitate telephone calls, zoom calls, letter writing and everyone is welcome to our musical afternoons. Gary Coupland
( from the singing kettle) visits offering adult appropriate entertainment. He is enjoyed by all.

The singers in our choir continue to learn new songs and piano skills. Table top games and ball games are planned weekly and our chef prepares treats and meals from around the world.

The Gala Day was a great success too.

Fiesta day details to follow!
