Newsletter Autumn 2026

Exciting news for Autumn 2026. Our residents have applied for positions within our new shop & cosy cafe. Opening soon! We have polled, designed, purchased and are ready for the big launch. Everyone is very excited.

Our tuck trolley and daily walking group are very popular. We walk the Golden Square in the village and pick up the newspapers as we pass the village shop.

The Newsletter group has been meetimg regularly and for Autumn we have named our publication ” Crofthead Community Connections”. This is a newsletter for the residents, by the residents. We create many drafts before choosing our deadline date and then the residents, interview, add topics and art work. Its a fabulous innovative team who put such effort in to achieve the best edition.

We have been discussing plans for our Halloween party, nutritious food, including our favourite soup which appears to be lentil and plans for hot chocolate with all the extras for Autumn.

Harvest celebrations begin and we enjoy helping our chef with seasonal vegetables. We have grown many in our greenhouse.

Gardening Club is preparing to plant bulbs for spring and we will use both our outdoor greenhouse and indoor potting shed to complete the tasks before the frosts of winter arrive.

We are off to an Autumn panto too at Lanark theatre, competing in the Sporting Olympics at XCITE ,as part of the Care Home Activity Network ( CAN) & we will be sailing on the Ratho Canal with the Seagull Trust. We love our regular outings.

Residents are enjoying knit and natter, Men’s club, choir and trips to our fabulous hair salon.

Our Spa days are a great success with such a variety of treatments, herbal teas, and a glass of fizz is always welcomed. We introduced eucalyptus and marshmallow Spa socks at the last session and everyone loved them.

As Autumn approaches we are encouraging residents to continue travelling on the Tri- shaw which whisks us into the beautiful woodland surrounding the village. Residents report that the leaves are already golden and young conkers are appearing on the trees, together with very ripe apples.

Autumn is a season of change and we are embracing it all here at Crofthead.

” Keep your face always to the Autumn sunshine and the shadows will fall behind you, just like the beautiful autumn trees do”
